Welsh Gymnastics are delighted to announce the launch of a new collaboration with Working with Parents in Sport (WWPIS).

The aim is to support organisations and coaches in building better positive relationships with the parents of gymnasts, working together to ensure the best possible experience for gymnasts.

To try and achieve this, WG and WWPIS will work together to deliver a number of specifically targeted and designed workshops over the next two years – in both community and performance environments.

“We are delighted to be working with Gordon and the team at Working with Parents in Sport,” said Holly Broad, Welsh Gymnastics Performance Programme Manager.

“We truly value the role parents/guardians undertake, supporting their children throughout the performance pathways and look forward to fostering this relationship further.

“We’re also pleased to be offering workshops for personal coaches working with individuals on the performance pathway.”

Joanne Gould, Welsh Gymnastics Club and Community Officer, said: “We are excited to collaborate with Working with Parents in Sport to deliver a range of workshops for our community.

“This is another significant step in the organisation’s commitment to ensure our members can enjoy our sport in a safe, fun and positive environment.”

Gordon MacLelland, CEO of Working with Parents in Sport, said: “I am extremely excited to be working alongside Welsh Gymnastics to help support them in creating the best possible environment for young gymnasts.

“Everyone has a role to play in this and we are looking forward to working with and learning from key stakeholders to ensure we create the most supportive programmes possible.”

Earlier this year, Working with Parents in Sport partnered with British Gymnastics and also work closely with several other leading sports organisations.
