The Scalabis Cup 2024, an esteemed international trampolining competition, took place from July 11th to 13th, drawing top athletes from around the globe. This year’s event was particularly significant for Wales, marking the first time in five years that a Welsh delegation participated in an international trampolining competition.

The Welsh team, guided by coaches Ricardo Trony and Lisa Parkinson, made a notable return with several commendable performances. The competition saw athletes from various categories showcasing their skills, with Lance Stephens achieving the highest ranking for Wales by securing 4th place in the Male Senior final. His outstanding performance highlights the talent present within the Welsh trampolining community.

In the Female Senior category, Georgia Haines led the Welsh competitors by finishing 10th in the qualifiers, followed by Cerys McIntosh in 16th place and India Marshall in 25th place. These athletes represented Wales with determination and demonstrated their skill on the international stage.

The competition also featured rising stars such as Alana Parez in the Under 21 Female category, who placed 20th in the qualifiers. In the Under 16 Female category, Sienna Halpin finished 14th and Norah Cole finished 24th. These young athletes showed promise and gained invaluable experience competing on an international stage.

The team was supported by esteemed coaches Ricardo Trony and Lisa Parkinson, whose guidance was instrumental in preparing the athletes for this significant international event. Nerys Williams served as the judge, ensuring the competition maintained its high standards of fairness and integrity.

The return of Wales to the Scalabis Cup after a five-year hiatus symbolises a renewed commitment to trampolining within the country. The athletes’ performances in Santarem have set a solid foundation for future international endeavors, inspiring young trampolinists in Wales to aim high.

The Scalabis Cup 2024 not only provided a platform for competition but also promoted camaraderie and sportsmanship among participants. As the Welsh team returns home, they bring with them not just the experience of competition, but also the pride of representing their nation on an international level.
