We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Peter Etherington as the new Head National Coach for the Men’s Artistic Performance Programme in Wales. Peter will be serving on a part-time basis until the Commonwealth Games in 2026, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to the role.

Peter Etherington has an impressive background in leadership, coaching, and coach development. He has previously served as the personal coach to Olympian and World Floor Champion Giarnni Regini-Moran. More recently, Peter led England’s Men’s Performance Programme, showcasing his ability to elevate gymnasts to the highest levels of competition.

In his new role, Peter will work alongside Peter Haysham, who will continue as the Men’s Artistic National Coach. Together, they aim to usher in a new era for Men’s Artistic gymnastics in Wales, building on the solid groundwork already established.

Peter shared his enthusiasm for his new role, stating:

“I am thrilled to join Welsh Gymnastics as the Head National Coach. I look forward to collaborating with our talented gymnasts, dedicated national coach, and support staff during this exciting journey towards the 2026 Commonwealth Games.”

One of Peter’s top priorities over the coming months will be to support and develop our coaches and judges. To achieve this, he plans to offer a series of regular clinics, workshops, and coaching education courses. We encourage everyone to keep an eye out for these opportunities in the coming weeks and months.

Peter added:

“I eagerly anticipate meeting and working closely with all of you to enhance our collective skills and expertise.”

Please join us in welcoming Peter Etherington to Welsh Gymnastics as we look forward to a promising future for Men’s Artistic gymnastics in Wales.
