The Women’s Artistic FIG Development Levels 2 & 3 and FIG Junior competition showcased outstanding performances from talented gymnasts across Wales. The event, held in Guildford on the 1st November, saw gymnasts compete in both team and individual all-around categories, delivering impressive results.
FIG Development Level 2
The FIG Development level 2 team category featured a standout performance from the Welsh team, who secured 1st place in a hard-fought competition. The team comprised:
- Sophia Davies (Pen-y-Bont/Clwb Cymru)
- Betsy Jones (Swansea Gymnastics Club)
- Darcie Walsh (Capital Academy of Sport)
- Liliana Orhan (Buckley Gymnastics)
Alais Thomas served as the non-competing reserve, with coaches Olivia Bryl, Sandra White, Becky Hosken, and Amelia Bailey guiding the team to success.
In the Individual All-Around (AA) competition, Sophia Davies shone brightly, clinching 1st place, while Betsy Jones secured 3rd place. Darcie Walsh and Liliana Orhan also put in commendable efforts, finishing 13th and 19th respectively.
In the combined Level 2 category, which totals scores from Excel 2 and FIG Development 2, Sophia Davies maintained her dominance, taking 1st place, with Betsy Jones following closely in 3rd place.
FIG Development Level 3
In Level 3, Olivia Melinn (Barry YMCA/Clwb Cymru) delivered a strong performance, placing 8th AA and achieving podium finishes on two apparatus with 3rd place on Bars and Floor.
FIG Junior
In the FIG Junior category, Ella Evans (Llanelli Gymnastics Club) impressed with a 7th place AA finish. She showcased her expertise on Bars, earning a well-deserved 2nd place in the event.
The competition was a testament to the depth of talent within Welsh gymnastics. From individual triumphs to team successes, the athletes demonstrated skill, resilience, and a bright future for the sport in Wales.
